Submission Guidelines

Write for us.At Go. Eat. Live. we seek stories that portray real experiences for the art of life. Yes, the art of life. We believe that life can be celebrated in the places we go, the food we eat, and the way we curate our life.

We publish stories, rather than content. Stories are how humans have connected through the centuries and even the best web content is story driven. We’re not so concerned about SEO optimization and keywords as we are of meaning, value, connection. Of course, we do want people to find, read, and relate to our stories, so we rely on our network of readers to share our stories to their socials. We ask this of our creators as well.

Real experiences for the art of life is more than just our editorial signature. We want stories that reflect that philosophy. If it’s a memorable meal you enjoyed, we want to know what made it memorable. Was it the food? The chef’s reputation? The company with which you shared it? When writing about travel, don’t just write about the places you went, but the footprints you left behind and why the place resonates within your soul. Reviews should not be just a summary of the book, film, concert, but reactions to the authorial voice, the achievements in production and presentation.

Payment: As an independent website we have a limited budget on how much we can pay creators to use their work. Each piece we accept is evaluated independently by what assets are included. In addition to our modest payment, we will promote your content through all Go. Eat. Live. social channels.

Editing: We edit everything and will submit suggested edits to authors for approval before publishing. We follow AP style and request that such standards of print media are used in your submissions. Go. Eat. Live. is published and edited by longtime journalist and author Carolyn Burns Bass.

What We Publish: We are specifically looking for travel features, food reviews, recipes, lifestyle content (wellness, workarounds, essays, media reviews, product reviews), and listicles to support the main verticals: Go, Eat, Live.

We believe good stories are told through diverse voices and we do not discriminate based on race, religion, age, sex, gender, or other divisionary labels. We do not accept erotica, porn, political, or content intended to divide, incense, or convert.

Editorial content should be formatted like this page. (Justified block left [no indents] with space in between paragraphs. Create hyperlinks within the document where necessary. Test your hyperlinks before submitting document.

Recipes should be typed in standard recipe style in a Word doc, with a heading, a head note describing the recipe and what’s special about it, then a list of ingredients, followed by the preparation. Recipes must have at least one original photo or it won’t be considered. Recipes will be tested in our kitchen prior to acceptance.

Rights: We ask for First Serial Rights for 90 days following publication of work that has never been published, after which all rights return to the author. We ask that if you choose to republish the piece elsewhere (online or in print), you credit Go. Eat. Live. as the original publisher (e.g., “This article first appeared in Go. Eat. Live. [date of publication]”). For First Serial Rights, please ensure all submissions are original and unpublished at the time of submission.

We will consider blog entries or other content that has been previously published, offering One Time Rights for such work. If submitting previously published work, let us know where and when (provide a link if possible) it was published.
